Joan Elizabeth (Kalin) Workman, age 89, passed away at St. Anne’s Retirement Community in Columbia, Pennsylvania, Tuesday February 19, 2013 where she had resided since March 2012. She was born July 9, 1923 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
She was the daughter of the late John C. and Elizabeth (Adams) Wilson.
She worked for Plastino and Owen’s drapery factory, Singing Needles, and ran her own seamstress business for many years.
Joan enjoyed cooking, sewing, travel and gardening.
She is survived by sons William J. Kalin spouse of Patty Weitzel of Wakefield, PA and former wife Peggy (Caldwell) Kalin of Willow St., PA, son David E. spouse of Judy (Teeter) Kalin Sr. of Willow Street, PA, Daughter Christine M. spouse of Leroy Webb of Leola, PA; seven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her first husband William M. Kalin and second husband, William W. Workman, her brother John C. Wilson, sister Eleanor Gregg and son-in law Robert Ziegler.
Joan was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster.
A funeral service will be held at Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 10:30 am. with the Rev. Dr. Donald Hackett officiating. Friends may greet the family at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment will follow at Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster, PA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA, 17604-4125.
