Joan H. Stauffer, 76, of Lancaster, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Edgar M. and Mary E. Pyle Houck. She was the wife of the late Donald A. Stauffer who passed away in January of 2007. They had been married for 53 years.
Along with her husband, she had worked as a Shaklee Coordinator for 32 years, and was also a past secretary for the Occupational Development Center. She was also actively volunteering with various organizations throughout her life. She enjoyed painting with oils and watercolors, shopping, fashion, and traveling throughout the world due to success in their Shaklee business. She was a member of the Church of the Apostles U.C.C.
She is survived by: a son, Abe Stauffer of Lancaster; 2 daughters, Donna J. wife of Gary Maxwell of Millersville, Sarah A. Antonelli of Lancaster; 6 grandchildren, Michael Graybill, Kyle Stauffer, Tyler Matos, Kevin Stauffer, Kate Stauffer, and Amber Antonelli; a great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Graybill, and a great-grandson, Jak Stauffer.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 at 2 PM from the Church of the Apostles U. C. C., 1850 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, with the Rev. Dr. Tyson L. Frey officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1 to 2 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church of the Apostles U.C.C.
