Joan Timney Verigood

Joan Timney Verigood, 75, of Lancaster, passed away Friday, December 16, 2011 at Hospice of Lancaster County. Born in Ambridge, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Elizabeth Schlumpf Timney. She was married for 53 years to Robert J. Verigood.

Joan was a 1953 graduate of Ambridge High School and a 1957 graduate of Grove City College. She worked as a teacher in various school districts prior to opening her shop, Market Alley Zoo, in Lancaster. She enjoyed gardening and playing the flute. Joan enjoyed planning parties and making memories for her friends and family, especially for her grandchildren, the joy of her life. Joan was an active supporter of the pulmonary- hypertension support group in Lancaster.

In addition to her husband, Bob, she will be lovingly missed by: her sons, Bob Verigood and companion Connie Hutchins of Lancaster, Jack husband of Robin Verigood of Mercer; her daughters, Beth Verigood of Elizabethtown, and Mary wife of Tim Epps of Lititz; 6 grandchildren, Brett and Josh Verigood, Abby and John Eric Fosnot, and Bryan and Lauren Epps; her brother, Girard Timney of Houston, TX; her sister Mary Ann Thomas of St. Michaels, MD.

Funeral Services will be held from First United Methodist Church, corner of Duke and Walnut Streets, Lancaster, on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 11 AM with interment following in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.
