Lancaster

John (Jack) Butler, 83, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025.

Jack was born in Norristown, PA, on February 20, 1942, the son of Florence Butler Brensinger and Wilbur Butler. He was the husband of Carolyn Butler, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage, raising a loving family in Lancaster. After serving in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Providence when it was recommissioned, Jack spent his professional career in the technology industry in multiple capacities, a job that took him to many places all over the world and gave him great satisfaction.

Jack enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies including hunting, genealogy, and car restoration. He was an MG enthusiast, restoring two MGA cars that have been the subject of recognition in various car shows over the years. Across all these activities, he met a diverse group of people and made lifelong friendships that he treasured dearly. But more than anything, Jack was a devoted husband and father, and his greatest pleasure was in watching his children and grandchildren thrive.

In addition to his wife, Carolyn, Jack is survived by his son, Robert Butler (Mariela) of Poolesville, MD, his daughter Denise Brown (David) of Pinehurst, NC, and 4 grandchildren: Daniel and David Butler, and Lexi and Kyle Brown. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Michelle Butler, and his twin brother, Wilbur Butler Jr.

Jack was a dear presence in the lives of those who met him. He was generous and caring, and his spirit will guide all of those who were fortunate to know him.

There will be no public viewing. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at St. Paul's Wolf's Church Cemetery, 4515 Wolf's Church Road, York, PA, 17408 at 1:00 PM where Jack will be laid to rest next to his daughter and brother.
