John H. Jacoby

John H. Jacoby, Jr., 76, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in  Long Island, NY, he was the son of the late John Sr., and F l o r e n c e Christiansen Jacoby. He was the husband of Mary Hess Jacoby, and the late Barbara Knowles Jacoby. He worked as a carpenter for various companies as well as independently. He volunteered many months helping to rebuild the Gulf Coast region following Hurricane Katrina through Christian Life Center. He enjoyed woodworking and glass etching, working outdoors, and helping his neighbors. He was a member of the Lancaster Alliance Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: 2 daughters, Lois J. wife of Mark E. Clark of Waxhaw, NC, Elizabeth A. Jacoby of Lititz; 3 sons, John M. Jacoby of Lancaster, Paul A. husband of Kim Kurzenberger Jacoby of Willow Street, Mark E. husband of Dyna Wood Jacoby of Lancaster; 13 grandchildren, Kyle, Cody, Joshua, Ashley, Emily, Lindsey, Amber, Nathan, Ethan, Aaron, Jesseca, Justina, and Gabriella. Also surviving are: 4 sisters, Joan wife of Paul Wenz of Texas, Carol wife of Donald Brandow of Orlando, FL, Janet wife of Bruce Mendo of Levitown, NY, Diane wife of John Steele of Altoona; 3 stepchildren, Kyle Rothfus of Chicago, IL, Erika wife of Brian Jacyszyn of Conestoga, Derek Rothfus of Lancaster; 3 step-grandsons. Funeral services will be held from the Richard A. Sheetz Funeral Home, 2024 Marietta Ave., Lancaster on  Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 3 PM with interment following in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Wycliffe Bible Translators, P.O. Box 628200, Orlando, FL 32862-8200, or to Christian  Life Center, 1807 Waveland Ave., Waveland, MS 39576.
