John “Jack” A. Sippel, Jr.

John “Jack” A. Sippel Jr., age 82, of Landisville, Pa. passed away at Oak Leaf Manor on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. the son of the late John A. and Florence (Drum) Sippel. He was married to Dawn (Giberson) Sippel who died in 1994.

He was a graduate of Hazleton High School (1948), Franklin and Marshall College (1952) where he was a member of the men’s basketball team, and Uni. Of Penn. School of Physical Therapy (1954) He served in the US Air Force (1952-55) attaining the rank of Captain.

He started his professional career as a staff physical therapist with the Easter Seal Society of Lancaster, Pa. He became Executive Director and moved the society to a new facility now known as the Schreiber Rehab Center. After retiring from the Easter Seal Society, he worked with various local nursing homes continuing his physical therapy career.

An avid golfer, he was a longtime member of Conestoga Country Club for over 50 years. Also he was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church, the Lancaster Cosmopolitan Club, the Lancaster Liederkranz and the Elks. Jack enjoyed cooking and was known as a wine connoisseur.

Surviving are a daughter, Jan L. Pepple, of Lancaster, Pa. and a son, Jack G. Sippel, companion of Gay Withers, Melbourne, Fl; two grandsons, Kevin Royer of Denver, Co., and Greg Royer, husband of Lisa Royer of Wrightsville, Pa. one granddaughter, Kayla Pepple of Lancaster; one great-grandson, Gage Royer; and two sisters, Barbara Hodges of Texas and Jean Gundry of Belleville, New Jersey. He was preceded in death by brothers, Sterling Sippel, Jay Sippel and David Sippel.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 7:30 P.M. at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 6:30 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Conestoga Memorial Park.
