John Jett Summersgill, age 58, of Lancaster, PA died October 10, 2014, at Lancaster General Hospital, of heart failure, in the company of his family.
Jett was born in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, on November 1, 1955, the son of John G. Summersgill and the late Sally (Hoy) Summersgill, and grew up in the Waynesburg area. He settled in Lancaster in 1994. Jett was a certified property appraiser and was employed by the city of Lancaster for several years before becoming a self-employed contractor. At the time of his death he was working on a long-term project in the U.S. Virgin Islands. He was the president of the Commercial Travelers Association (CTA) in Lancaster and a member of the Pennsylvania Assessors Association.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Marliese (Liese} Higgins Summersgill; by two sons, Scott (Grace Carroll) and Brian; and by a grandson, Noah John. Jett is also survived by his father John; brothers Patrick (Jill) and Stuart; his sister Stacy Lemley (Douglas); and by nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to visitation at Highland Presbyterian Church, 500 E. Roseville Rd., Lancaster, PA on Tuesday, October 14, from 9:00 to 11:00, with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow, with commitment private.
