John H. Kimmich

d. December 6, 2022

John H. Kimmich, 90 of 103 Pollock Drive, Pittston, formerly of Lititz, PA died Tuesday December 6 after a brief illness at Wesley Village.

He retired in 1987 with over 25 years of service from RCA Corp. of Lancaster, working as a draftsman designing TV picture tubes.   Prior to working for RCA John was a member of the United States Air Force from 1951-1955.

Recently moving to Pittston, PA to be closer to his grandsons and daughter, John spent his time playing Bingo with his friends and visiting his local Gerrity’s store for his favorite sweets.  He recently tried his first cannoli during a visit to a local cheesecake business.

John was a recognized artist in Lancaster and won numerous art awards at the Lancaster County Office of Aging Senior Arts Exhibition including the People’s Choice Award in 2007.

His biggest accomplishments were his son, daughter and grandsons.  He was always happy to brag about how his son was an accomplished video game designer and his daughter worked in the travel industry but he could never explain what she did.  He was always so proud to talk about his wrestling days to Noah and Ryan and give them pointers for their matches.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late John Kimmich and Alvenia Kimmich. He was preceded in death by his sister Shirley Kimmich.  He was the husband of Alice M. Kimmich, who died in 1989 as well as preceded in death by his second wife Shirley Zimmerman Kimmich in 2003.

Surviving is a son, Jon B. of Bellevue, WA; a daughter Kathleen, wife of Matt Cooper, Shavertown, PA and two grandsons Noah and Ryan Cooper.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 1:00 PM.  A viewing will be held from 12:00 PM until the time of the service.
