Joseph F. Martan, 84, of East Petersburg passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Joseph Martan and Bertha Neubauer Anthofer. He was the husband of the late Mary Chance Martan who died in November of 1999. Mr. Martan served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from S. C. Poultry Service in East Petersburg in 1991. He had been a member of Christ United Methodist Church, and a past patron and 50-year member of the James Buchanan Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. He also enjoyed his model railroad display. He is survived by: 2 daughters, Joan M. wife of Steven Frantz of Lititz, and Carol B. Martan of East Petersburg; 2 grandchildren, Jessica wife of Russell Burkett of Manheim, Gregory Frantz of Lititz; a great-grandson, Blake Burkett. Funeral services will be held from the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 at 11 AM. Friends may call from 10 to 11 AM at the funeral home.
