Joseph “Joe” M. Ruser, 56 of Lancaster, died Friday, February 6, 2009 at Hospice of Lancaster County.
Joe was married nine years to Vicki Ann Thren Ruser. Born in Norristown, he was the son of the late John P. and Mary C. Regan Ruser.
Joe retired in January from the United States Postal Service after 30 years of employment. He was a graduate of Cabrini College in Wayne, PA and was a member of the Lord’s House of Prayer in Lancaster. He was a member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernian and enjoyed fishing, hiking, mountain biking, snow skiing and playing the guitar.
Surviving besides his wife is a son Jesse J. Ruser of Spring City, PA; a step-son Christopher Fulmer of Oaks, PA; a step-daughter Holly wife of Todd Miller of Marietta; four step-grandchildren, Alexis, Terran, Jackson and Rylee; four brothers, John husband of Barbara Ruser, and Charles Ruser both of Collegeville, twin brother Jim Ruser of Hollywood, FL and Marty husband of Jodi Ruser of Breiningsville, PA; three sisters, Eleanor Owens and Joanne Ruser both of Collegeville, and Dorothy Ruser of Norristown; a sister-in-law Patti Ruser of Collegeville. He was preceded in death by a step-son Michael Fulmer, Jr., by brothers Michael Ruser and Eddie Ruser and by sisters Mary Pigeon and Eileen Stoner.
A service celebrating Joe’s life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Lord’s House of Prayer, 133 E. Vine St., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Mark K. King and the Rev. Stuart Osborne officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
