June Louise Evans

June Louise Wohr Evans, 88, of Lancaster, died on January 1, 2019 at Landis Homes. She was the loving wife of Warren E. Evans, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Anna Myers Wohr and Charles Luther Wohr.

She graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School in 1948. She was employed by the former Sheetz Candies Store, Lancaster General Hospital, the Fulton Bank, and enjoyed several decades as Gift Shop Manager at the former Conestoga Motor Inn.

June Louise was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Soroptimist International, the Women’s Garden Club of Lancaster, the Lancaster Garden Club, a charter member of the Susquehanna Unit of the Horticultural Society of America, a charter member of the National Horticultural Society of America in Washington, DC, and volunteered at Rock Ford and on the Demuth Garden tours. Her passion of music and nurturing of flowers and herbs transcends her. She had a great appreciation for every detail in life. She enjoyed visiting Longwood Gardens and other regional gardens.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters; Carol Evans Reichler, wife of Alfred G., and Sally Evans Pettinato, 4 grandchildren; Emily Reichler Swarr (Jeff), Charles-Andrew Evans Reichler (Hilary), Abigail Armstrong Stewart, and Katie Alexandra Sabatini (Dr. Jesse), along with 6 adoring great-grandchildren, who captured her heart. Also surviving is a sister, Mary Elizabeth Eckman, two nephews; David Eckman and John Eckman (Teresa), great-nephew, Bevan Eckman, and the Braightmyer family of Quarryville.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 31 S Duke St., Lancaster, PA 17602. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to VisionCorps Foundation of Lancaster, 244 N Queen St, Lancaster, PA 17603, Longwood Gardens School and Youth Programs, PO Box 501 Kennett Square, PA 19348 with her name included, and to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
