Kenneth B. Noll

Kenneth B. Noll, 88, of Rohrerstown, PA, died Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Landis Homes due to recently discovered cancer.  He joins his beloved wife of 63 years, Lois Arlene Hershey Noll, who died in 2011.  Born in Rohrerstown on November 4, 1926, he was the son of Earl H. and Esther Brubaker Noll.

After graduating from high school in the East Hempfield School District, Ken began his life-long career as a farmer at 401 Rohrerstown Road.  Neighbors and passersby still remember the pristine farm.  Ken loved the land and enjoyed caring for the steers, pigs, chickens and even the cats.  He and his brother Bob, with whom he farmed in the earlier years, could fix or build almost anything.  This ability served him well as he developed an avocation, restoring antique vehicles.  Experts in the field remember him for the meticulous way he painted and restored.  His work included pieces as varied as an award-winning oil tanker truck, many cars, bicycles, whizzers, and pedal cars.  He and Lois traveled many miles looking for just the right piece to complete a vehicle.  In Ken’s 11 years at Landis Homes, he was involved in the Garden Railroad Club where he continued to operate and repair the trains.

Ken was an active member of East Chestnut Street Mennonite Church until his move to Landis Homes.  He served as a trustee for many years; his hands touched much of that building.  He had a quiet strength, a ready smile, and a wry sense of humor.  He dearly loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  He is survived by his daughter, Jeanette N., married to Herman Bontrager, his son, Herbert H., married to Becky Thomas Noll; grandchildren Elizabeth and Nathan Bontrager, Chris (married to Katie) and Ben (married to Laura) Cattell Noll; great grandchildren Ethan, Andrew and Lydia Noll.  Also surviving are his brothers, Robert B. and Donald B. Noll.  He was pre-deceased by his twin siblings, John B. and Mary Jane Noll.

A viewing will be held at Landis Homes, West Bethany Chapel, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz, from 6-8 PM on Friday, January 16.  A memorial service will be held at East Chestnut Street Mennonite Church, 432 East Chestnut St., Lancaster, PA at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 17.  Visitation with the family will follow the service.  Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
