Kenneth E. Wolf
Kenneth Eugene Wolf, 94, of Lancaster passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the home of his son James C. Wolf. He was a long time resident of Woodcrest Villa and prior to that lived at 564 Hamilton Street in Lancaster. He was born in Lancaster and was the son of the late Herbert and Vera Wolf. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn who passed away 11 years ago this month.
He was a graduate of Hempfield High School and Franklin and Marshall College. He served in the US Army Air Corp in World War II during the North African, Sicilian and Italian campaigns.
He was employed by RCA Corporation where he was intimately involved with the development of the first color television. Later, he worked for Gilbert Associates in Reading and Warfel Construction in Lancaster.
He was an active member of many organizations including Lamberton Lodge # 476 F. & A.M., Harrisburg Consistory, Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, Lancaster County Shrine Club, Lancaster County Shrine Club Oriental Band, the Isaac Walton League and Society for the Advancement of Management. He was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Lancaster where he served as usher and was a member of the Archives Committee.
His favorite pastime was fishing. He was scheduled to go fishing with his friend the day he died. His laugh was his most endearing trait. The halls of Woodcrest will be a little quieter with his passing.
He is survived by his son, James Craig, husband of Andrea; two grandchildren, Aubrey Jean Wright of Boston, wife of Dr. Chapman Wright and Kenneth Andrew Wolf of Arlington, husband of Julianne. He is also survived by his great granddaughter, Juliette Jean Wright with whom he spent his last Easter, at the shore in Sea Isle City.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Herbert and William and infant sister Nancy.
Friends may call at the DeBord Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. A Masonic service will be conducted by the Lamberton Lodge # 476 F. & A.M. on Friday at 7:15 p.m.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service in the First United Methodist Church, corner of Duke and Walnut Streets, Lancaster, PA on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. The family will greet friends at the church immediately following the Memorial Service on Saturday, April 9, 2016.
Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
