Kyle S. Gerber

Kyle Steven Gerber, 38, of Pequea, PA., passed away on January 8, 2017.   Born in Lancaster, PA., he was the son of Kenneth E. Gerber, Jr. and Diane Y. (Rock) Gerber.

Kyle graduated from Hempfield High School in 1996 where he played baseball and basketball.  After graduation, he went on to proudly serve 4 years in the US Navy as a signalman aboard the USS Anzio CG68 which included several Mediterranean tours and trips through the Persian Gulf.

Following his time in the Navy, Kyle was employed by Certified Carpet where he was trained as a flooring installer; later he worked for Tim Nauman General Contractor as a ceramic flooring installer which eventually led Kyle into the flooring installation business as an independent contractor.  Most recently, Kyle joined R.R. Donnelly as a machine operator working for 2 different plants.

In addition to his parents, Kyle is survived by his adoring sister, Kim Gerber Buckius (companion of Dan Parson) and loving brother Keith, who would do anything for him; nieces, Lydia and Emma Buckius whom he absolutely adored, his best friend and companion, Katy Bennett and his dog, “Bear.” Kyle is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was predeceased by his grandparents, Betty and Kenneth Gerber, Sr. and LeRoy and Kitty Rock.

Kyle will be remembered as a good friend to many.  In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time in the mountains with his good friends at their cabin. He played for the Yankees and Cardinals in the Lanco adult baseball league, which was a lot of fun and allowed him to play with many of his friends from Hempfield. Kyle also enjoyed participating in fantasy sports leagues. He was a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers, especially of Brett Favre.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a closed casket visitation at Hempfield United Methodist Church, 3050 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601 on Wednesday evening, January 11, 2017 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.   A funeral will be held the following day on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM also at the church with the Rev. Dr. Keith Braucher as officiant. .  Interment will follow the service on Thursday at Silver Spring Cemetery with full military honors.  Per the request of the family, please feel free to dress casually for the service as you would have done when spending time with Kyle.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to: Wounded Warrior Project, National Processing Center, P.O.
