Lois A. Newkirk, 86, of, Willow Street, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Meadow Ridge at Willow Valley. She was the wife of the late Francis Robert Newkirk who died in 1983.

Born in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of the late Winne Elijah and Vera Rose Lewis Mount.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lancaster, and prior to moving to Lancaster in 2001, was long-time member of First Presbyterian Church, Schenectady, NY. There she was a member of the women’s circle and a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed ministering to people in nursing homes and playing the piano, was an avid reader, but her greatest joy was her family.

Mrs. Newkirk is survived by a son, Gerry Newkirk, husband of Gai of Austin, TX, two daughters, Roberta, wife of William Stevens of North East, MD and Esther Boyd of Beverly, MA; a niece, Dorothy Marie, wife of Robert Minch; 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 2 grand nieces. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Gregory Boyd and her great-grandson, Kirk Stevens.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service at First United Methodist Church, corner of Duke and Walnut Sts., Lancaster, PA on Sunday, September 4th at 1:30 P.M. The family will greet friends at the Private Dining Room of Willow Valley Lakes Manor, 300 Willow Valley Lakes Dr., Willow Street, PA on Saturday from 6:00-7:00 P.M. Private interment at Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, NY will take place at the convenience of the family.
