Margaret C. Craige, 79, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Lancaster Hospice and Community Care. She was the loving wife of Nelson F. Craige for over 58 years.
Margaret was born July 9, 1933 in Englewood, New Jersey to Rev. Robert J. and Margaret H. Clarke. She graduated from Keuka College in 1955 with a B.S. in Nursing and earned a M.Ed. from Millersville State College in 1975.
Margaret was a staff nurse at Lancaster General Hospital 1964 – 1965 and an Elementary Counselor for the School District of Lancaster 1975 – 1983.
Margaret was a current member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Lancaster. She was a previous member of St. Thomas and St. Edwards, Lancaster and St. Faith’s, Burwoord Australia.
Margaret is survived by: husband, Nelson F. Craige, of Landis Homes, Lititz; four children: Nelson S. Craige of Pittsburgh, PA; Steven C. Craige of Fredericksburg, VA; Susan C. Ritchey of Sterling, VA; and Margaret C. Gebert, of Pottstown, PA; six grandchildren: Sean J. Ritchey, Elizabeth A. Craige, Fiona C. Ritchey, Emma K. Craige, Madeline M. Gebert, and Eloise A. Gebert; and one sister, Mary C. Harrison of State College, PA.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 321 West Chestnut Street, Lancaster, on March 16th at 10:30 a.m. with The Rev. Jennifer Looker and The Rev. John Morris officiating and The Rev. Pete Greenfield preaching. Ashes will be scattered in the St. John’s Memorial Garden at the conclusion of the service. Friends may greet the family at a reception following the service in the parish hall.
