Margaret K. Shenk

Margaret K. Shenk, 99, a resident of Meadow Ridge at Willow Valley, died Monday, February 7, 2011 at Hospice of Lancaster County. She was the wife of the late Clayton B. Shenk who died in 2000. Born August 16, 1911 in Millersville, she was the daughter of the late Miles and Elizabeth Kilheffer. Mrs. Shenk had spent many years as an administrative assistant for the U.S. Olympic Archery team. She, along with her late husband, had traveled extensively around the world with their involvement with archery. Margaret enjoyed crocheting, baking, cooking and being with extended family. She was known for her generosity in supporting organizations involved with healthcare and childcare. She is survived by nieces, Susan Mumper wife of Fred Uffelman of Wrightsville, Barbara Ann Bowman of Lancaster, and Pat Bowman of Lancaster, and by nephews, Robert Mumper and James Mumper, both of Annapolis, MD, and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, E. Richard and Robert M. Kilheffer, and by a sister, Kathryn Bowman. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be private and held at the convenienceof the family in the Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
