Maria Magdalena Schmalhofer, 66, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 5th, 2015, after a courageous two and a half year battle with ovarian cancer. Born in Bavaria, Germany, she came to Lancaster in the seventies and made it her home.
Maria was a graduate of the newly renamed PA College of Health Sciences. She was a retired RN who worked at LGH for over 15 years.
She was the loving mother of Lukas, Nina, and Natasha Myrie. She has four grandchildren who were the joy of her life: Logen Miller, Sophia, Christian, and Bianca Myrie. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Maria was a giving Mother and Grandmother, her kind and generous spirit touched many lives. She will be missed dearly.
In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by her beloved sisters Heidi and Regina Dumm of Germany, her uncle Bruno Schmalhofer of Lancaster, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Celebration of Life service at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA, 17602 on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Edward A. Dickel officiating. Friends may greet the family from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
