Marian Brubaker Snavely, 89, of Landisville/Lancaster, died Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Lancaster General Hospital after a two day illness. Born in Mount Joy, PA, she was the wife of the late James Lichty Snavely, who died in January 2006. She was the daughter of the late Edwin and Rebecca Brubaker.
Marian was a graduate of the former Mount Joy High School and the 1949 nursing class of Lancaster General Hospital. She served as a private duty nurse and later worked as a crew member of the Hempfield Ambulance Association. She has also volunteered as a driver/visitor for Lancaster Meals on Wheels for forty two years and has served as past member of the Board of Directors of Meals on Wheels.
Marian was a member of the Landisville Church of God for more than fifty years and formerly served forty years in the Kindergarten department of the
Sunday
School.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy, married to Donald F. Stewart of Lancaster; two sons, Rich, married to Deb Muller Snavely of Lancaster and Ted, married to Sharlene Gin of Arlington, VA; six grandchildren, Brandon Snavely and Travis Snavely of Austin, TX; Flynn Stewart-Severy (Elizabeth) of Aspen, CO; Alexis Scott (Nate) of Burlington, VT; Sebastian and Cole Snavely both of Arlington, VA. She has two great grandchildren, Julian and Wesley Scott. Marian is also survived by her cousin Bernerd Grissinger of Mount Joy as well as her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Ethel Snavely of Lancaster. She was pre-deceased by an infant brother, John Martin Brubaker; two cousins, Herbert Brubaker and Peggy Brubaker McBride, and a brother and sister-in-law, Jere and Pauline Snavely.
Her interests included bridge, gardening, photography and always her family and friends. Marian found everyone with whom she came in contact fascinating. Her ultimate gift was that she made everyone feel special.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Celebration of Life to be held at the Landisville Church of God, 171 Church Street, Landisville, PA on
Saturday, June 17 at 11:00 am
with the Rev. Tim Bistline officiating. Her family will greet friends immediately following the Celebration of Life Service. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
