Marion L. Faulkner

Marion L. Faulkner, age 95, died surrounded by her family on May 22, 2019 in Lancaster, PA. She was born in Hornell, NY in 1924 and grew up in the Finger Lakes region of NY. In 1945 she graduated from SUNY at Geneseo. She loved teaching and taught elementary school in Wellsville, NY and Willow Street, PA. She married her husband, Richard D. Faulkner (Dick) in 1946 and moved to Lancaster, PA, where they lived for the rest of their lives. In the early years of their marriage, they enjoyed sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. They were loving and devoted parents of their two children, Barbara and Rick. Marion was a Girl Scout Leader and a member of Town Club, University Club, PA Guild of Craftsmen, and First Presbyterian Church. Her husband was an engineer at RCA, and she enjoyed friendships with many RCA families. Pursuing their love of travel, she and her family travelled widely throughout the United States and Canada. Her husband and son founded the Long’s Park Art Festival in 1979, and Marion helped them plan and run the show for many years. She loved welcoming exhibitors from across the country. Her last years were spent at the Mennonite Home, where she was grateful for the support and kindness of the staff. Throughout her life, her greatest happiness came from spending time with family and friends.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Hal C. Livermore and Lorena Tyler Livermore, and her beloved husband, Richard. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Barbara Faulkner of Houston, TX; son Rick Faulkner, daughter-in-law Margrethe, and granddaughters Erika and Katrina of Pequea, PA; sister Esta Sherwood of Portland, OR; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 12th at First Presbyterian Church, 140 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA. Visitation will be at 10 am, with the service at 11 am. Her burial was in S. Dansville, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to The Geneseo Foundation, SUNY Geneseo, 1 College Circle, Geneseo, NY 14454 or the charity of your choice.
