Marjorie Louise Krepp, born August 3, 1923, in Rocky Grove, PA, to Bert B. and Edna Rose Wertman, died January 9, 2010, in Lancaster, PA.
Hers was a life well lived. A graduate of Grove City College, Mom was an innate educator coaxing even the most reluctant learners through A Tale of Two Cities and the pluperfect tense in Spanish. She taught in Warren and in the Redbank Valley School District for many years.
But Mom reveled in family. She married Richard J. Krepp in 1949, and until our dad’s death in 2005, theirs was marriage of love, admiration, and devotion to one another. Their sense of honor and sense of humor, their willingness to work hard and play fair, were gifts to their children, Susan Rose, Jane Ann and James Axtell, and to their grandchildren, Katie, Jim, and Matt.
In Mom, we witnessed a soft spot for animals, a talent for gardening, and an appreciation of good books and music. We learned a lethal command of pronouns and opening bids in bridge. She loved Penn State, loved dogs, and was a good floater.
We are so very grateful for the tender care Mom received from the staff at The Glen of Willow Valley and from Hospice of Lancaster County. A family celebration of Mom’s life will be held at the beach this summer.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be sent to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, P.O.Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17603-4125.
