Mary C. Baker, 97, a resident of the Quarryville Presbyterian Home, died Monday, June 24, 2013.
She was the wife of the late John Richard Baker who died in 1956. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Anna Mowrer Geib.
Mary retired from the Bon-Ton where she had worked as a sales associate. Prior to that she had been employed by Watt & Shand, Hess’s Department Store and Shreiner’s Flowers on Central Market.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lancaster, and enjoyed working with flowers.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas husband of Debbie Baker of Strasburg, and Dale husband of Cathey Baker of Columbia, TN; a daughter Maryann Boyd of Spring City, PA; six grandchildren, Matthew Baker of Lancaster, Benjamin Baker of Bisbee, AZ, Christopher Boyd of San Jose, CA, Timothy Baker of Houston, TX, Michael Baker, of Columbia, TN and Laurie Boyd of Spring City, PA; a sister Dorothy Herr; and two brothers, Chester and Richard Geib. She was preceded in death by a grandson John Baker, by brothers, George, Jack, Henry, Bill and Bob Geib and by sisters, Mabel Kilhefner, Ada Erb and Agnes Hess.
A private graveside service with interment in Greenwood Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 517 N. Queen St., Lancaster, PA 17603.
