Mary J. Weaver, 87, of Lancaster passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 18, 2016 at Harrison Senior Living in Christiana, PA where she had resided since 2013. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Lloyd M. Weaver. She is survived by her loving sons: Douglas and wife Sherry (San Antonio, TX), Greg and wife Shannon (Boston, MA) and Dwight and wife Mary (Atglen, PA) as well as by 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings John Hersh (Harrisburg, PA), Reba Hersh (Lancaster), Donald Hersh (Boerne, TX), and Robert Hersh (Belle Vernon, PA). She was predeceased by siblings Eunice Goss (Lancaster), Jean Urban (Lancaster) and William Hersh (State College, PA).
Mary was born in Lancaster to the late Mildred (Brown) and Martin Hersh on October 3, 1929. She graduated from Paradise High School. She worked for many years at Woolworth’s and Garvey’s Pharmacy, both in Lancaster. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Lancaster. She was a loving and caring housewife who was devoted to her family and her faith. She loved to cook, bake and sew and took great pride in her sons, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She and Lloyd spent countless weekends at their campground in Maryland, crabbing and socializing with family and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service in the First Baptist Church of Lancaster, 612 N. Duke Street, on December 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rick Cook officiating. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A luncheon will follow in the basement of the church.
Interment will take place at the Conestoga Memorial Park 95 Second Lock Rd., Lancaster at 3:00 the day of the service.
