Mary Jane Frederick, of Columbia, Pennsylvania passed away on April 7, 2017 at Lancaster General Health at the age of 83. Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Earl D. and Esther V. (Sowers) Cunningham. Mary, known by everyone as Jane, was married for 64 years to James H. Frederick, Jr., who passed way in January, 2017.
Jane is survived by three sons, James H. Frederick, III (Debra) of Lancaster, PA, Scott D. Frederick (Darlinda) of Mountville, PA, and David B. Frederick of Marietta, PA; grandchildren James H. (Lieshe) Frederick, IV, Daniel A. (Danae) Frederick, Michael C. Frederick, Dayne E. (Kayla) Frederick of Lancaster, PA and David B. Frederick, Jr. of Columbia, PA. She also has four great grand-children. Jane is survived by a sister Cecilia E. Kochel and was predeceased by sisters; Louise M. Wolf, Gloria M. Wolf, and Esther V. Wertz.
After graduating from McCaskey High School, Jane worked for the law firm of Appel, Ranck, Levy and Appel, where she successfully demonstrated her administrative and interpersonal skills. Jane was also actively involved as a volunteer with the United Service Organization (USO) in the Lancaster, PA area.
After marrying her husband Jim, Jane, over the next 23 years invested her skills and life into raising her three sons, taking care of her home and being involved in community opportunities. In 1975, she and her husband Jim purchased Widder Fabrics, a wholesale/retail fabric operation and operated a fabric outlet store in Paradise Pennsylvania for the next 22 years. Jane loved interfacing with customers and was the key to the store’s success.
Jane loved to help and serve people. A sweet lady, friend, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be missed, but never forgotten.
A life celebration gathering for friends and family will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 4:00 PM in the Fireside Room at the Worship Center located at 2384 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601.
