Mary Jane Schoenberger, 86 , formerly of East Petersburg, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Luther Acres, Lititz, PA, surrounded by her family.
Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Clarence D. and Mary Amand Hertzler.
She was the loving wife of the late Chester W. Schoenberger, Jr. who died in February, 2015. They had been married for 65 years and met in high school when she was a cheerleader and he played basketball at East Hempfield High School.
Jane worked for many years as a bank teller for Fulton Bank, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, East Petersburg, PA. She had been an active member of East Petersburg Historical Society and a life member of East Petersburg Fire Company. She was involved in the Relay for Life Team/Zion’s Angels.
She was an avid golfer and loved playing pinochle. The highlight of her life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her survivors include 4 children, Linda, wife of John Weiss of Stevens ; Vicky, wife of James Enders of Frederick, MD ; Donna, wife of Douglas Pfautz of Landisville, and Donald, husband of Mary Schoenberger of E. Petersburg; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Benjamin, husband of Gloria Hertzler of Lancaster, and a sister, Nancy, wife of Leroy Denlinger of Rohrerstown. She was predeceased by a brother, Donald Hertzler and a sister, Dorothy Metzler.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service in Zion Lutheran Church, 1905 Broad St., East Petersburg, PA 17520 on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Daniel Long, and Rev. Mary Margaret Ruth officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the Memorial Service.
Private interment will be at the convenience of the family.
