Mary Ann Rieker, 62, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 21. She was born in Lancaster, a daughter of Mary and the late George Ehemann.
She was the loving wife of thirty-nine years of David M. Rieker of Lancaster. She is survived by a son, D. Matthew Rieker, husband of Anne Rieker of Lancaster and their two sons, Benjamin and Michael; and a daughter, Jennifer Mary Smith, wife of David Smith of Batavia, Ohio and their son, Cole, and daughter, Molly.
She is also survived by a sister, Judy Deichert, and a brother, George, both of Lancaster; as well as a brother, David of Arnold, Maryland.
A graduate of Manheim Township and Millersville University, she taught fourth and fifth grade in Manheim Township for many years and is remembered fondly by many of her former students. Recently she was employed as the Teller Supervisor at the Lanco Federal Credit Union on Roseville Road in Lancaster.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service to celebrate her life at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 540 West Walnut Street, Lancaster at 11 AM on Saturday, April 24. The family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125. A private interment for family members will be held at the Millersville Mennonite Cemetery at a later date.
