Matthew Alexander Caraballo, "Matt", 29, of East Petersburg, PA, passed away on February 21, 2024 after a car accident. His loss is completely unexpected and his family is profoundly saddened.
Matt was born on August 30, 1994 to Carmen Lydia Mercado in Fort Lauderdale, FL. After Matt graduated from Ephrata High School in 2014, he went on to join the United States Marine Corp for 3.5 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator with The Engineering Support Company.
After the Marines he lived on Oahu, Hawaii for 8 years where he learned to surf which became one of his favorite hobbies. If he wasn't surfing you could find him cooking and trying new foods, playing pool, chess and baseball, working on cars, hanging out with friends and family, or watching Harry Potter for the millionth time.
Matt was predeceased by his mother Carmen. He is survived by his four brothers, Marc, Mikey, Mario and Manny, his nephew Ezra and nieces Lylah and Mariana, his maternal grandparents, as well as countless extended family members.
Matt's love for those close to him was incomparable. He wasn't one to show affection, but he would go to great lengths to protect and care for those who needed it. Throughout his journey on earth he made so many lifelong connections and friendships that helped shape the person he was. He will always be a part of us and his love will never fade.
