Matthew Charles Brandt, Jr.

Matthew Charles Brandt, Jr., 88, of Millersville, PA, passed away unexpectedly on June 22, 2020. Matthew was an Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War. He retired from working with Yellow Freight as a driver. Born and raised in Washington, DC, Matthew relocated to Millersville, PA with his 2nd wife, Dorothy, and raised his new family. Matthew was the son of the late Matthew Charles Sr and the late Gladys Estelle Brandt. Preceded in death is Matthew’s brother, Frederick Donald Brandt, also an Army Veteran,

From his current family, Matthew is survived by his daughter, Sandra L Brandt, his three grandchildren, Travis M. Leibig, Kristen N. Leibig, Virginia M. Enck, and his great-grandson, Rory D.R. Leibig. Preceded in death is his wife, Dorothy Brandt and his daughter, Susan J. Leibig.

From a previous marriage to the late Phoebe Rae Drennen, Matthew has five children, 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. His surviving children are Dr Linda Drennen, Professor Arlene Drennen, Coni Brandt, award winning published author. Preceded in death are his son, Samuel Edwin Brandt, and daughter, RaeAnne Brandt.

His surviving grandchildren are Joseph Patrick Hooker, Matthew Welborn, PepperRae Franchina-Gallagher, Keith Richie, Joseph Garrison, Kenny Bissada, Vivian Bissada, Jennifer Bissada, Shannon Bissada, Crystal Bissada, Victoria Inomorati, Antonio Inomorati, Ashleigh Brandt. Preceded in death is his granddaughter, Laura Welborn.

A public funeral service will be held 12:00 PM on Monday, June 29, 2020 at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 141 Orange St, Lancaster, PA 17602. A visitation will occur 11:00 AM until the time of the service. A private ceremony for the close family will follow at the burial site. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, National Processing Center, PO Box 758517, Topeka KS 66675-8517.
