Michael John Lafferty, 54, of Landisville, PA, died Sunday, August 7th, 2011 at Hospice of Central PA, Harrisburg, PA. He was the husband of Alcira Maldonado Lafferty with whom he would have celebrated 28 years of marriage November 5, 2011. Born in Boston, MA, he is the son of Edward Lavelle and Margot Footer Lafferty of Waban, MA. He was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church.
In the lending business for over 20 years, Michael was a mortgage broker for Cole Taylor, and prior to that a partner in Beacon Mortgage, Inc.
He was a 1979 graduate of Brandeis University, Waltham, MA. An avid soccer player his entire life, Michael played for the Lancaster Kickers. He coached and refereed many soccer games. A member of Hempfield Sports Complex, he also enjoyed tennis and golf.
Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by two children, Julia Marie Lafferty of Seattle, WA, and Patrick Michael Lafferty of Landisville; and a brother, Jeffrey Paul Lafferty of Boca Raton, FL. He was predeceased by a brother Edward Cary Lafferty.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 12th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Peter I. Hahn as celebrant. Friends may call at Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Thursday, August 11th from 6:00-8:00 P.M. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
