Milly Allison

Mildred Stehman Rohrer Allison entered into rest peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 22, 2014.

Born and raised on a small farm in East Hempfield Township, Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Enos and Elizabeth Rohrer.

Milly was a 1953 graduate of East Hempfield High School where she was very active in music, sports and cheerleading.  She recently renewed many old friendships and memories as co-chair of the 60

th

Hempfield reunion in October.

As a young girl her smile especially captured the heart of a twelve year old boy named Bruce G. Allison.  He later became her husband of almost 61 years.

In March of this year this same warm smile encouraged the primary care doctor at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia to make a special return trip to Milly’s room the night prior to her transfer for surgery to tell her she was the sweetest patient he had ever had.

Milly will ever be remembered for her kindness and her ability to add beauty to everything she touched:  a lump of clay, a piece of cloth, a garden, a hymn, a home, a relationship.  Humble, caring and soft spoken she was devoted to her family.  She was also dedicated to her church.

As a student and later as a young mother Milly belonged to The Church of God in Landisville where she sang in the choir.  Upon her return to the Lancaster area after a number of family moves she and Bruce became active members of First Presbyterian Church on Orange Street where she joyfully sang in the choir for the last twenty-five years.  She was also active on the flower committees and for seven years was chair of the Memorial Garden committee where she spent countless hours adding to its beauty.

After raising her children, Milly developed lasting friendships playing golf with the Ladies Group at Conestoga Country Club.  She served as Woman’s Golf Chairman as well as serving on the building renovation and the men’s greens committees.

Warmly co-hosting customers with her husband on numerous overseas trips she made everyone feel special and comfortable.  She enjoyed sharing everything from the history, people, art and architecture of Europe to the crowded markets of treasures in Marrakesh and Casablanca.

However, always foremost in her thoughts and interests were her family.  She was Mom to her four children and lovingly “Granna” to her nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Milly is survived by her husband Bruce G. Allison; daughters, Sherry wife of Doug Davis of Staunton, VA, and Kimberly wife of Ralph Klinepeter of Mechanicsburg, PA; and sons, Gregory Allison husband of Susan of Lancaster, and Richard Allison husband of Tricia of Stevens, PA.  Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Neil Davis, Hank Davis husband of Jodi, Camy Young wife of Steve, Kathryn Allison, Christine Allison, Carly Allison, Michael Klinepeter husband of Dana, Matthew Klinepeter husband of Charlotte and Ryan Klinepeter; six great grandchildren, Jack, Cole and Cala Young, and Margaret, Samuel and Annabelle Klinepeter.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service at First Presbyterian Church, 140 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Dr. Geoffrey S. Kohler and the Rev. Dr. Donald W. Hackett officiating.  Family will greet friends at the church on Saturday, May 3
