It is with great sadness that the Buie family advises of the passing of Millicent “Miki” Buie, 87, formerly of New Bern, North Carolina, on December 4
th
, 2018.
Born on January 18, 1931 in Cadillac Michigan, Miki lived in many different states before moving to New Jersey and graduating from Plainfield High School in 1949. She was a 1953 graduate of Skidmore College of Nursing and was a public health nurse for many years. She worked for the VNA of Brooklyn, as well as Mercy Hospital in Baltimore, before moving back to NJ where she continued her career in public health and teaching obstetrics at Muhlenburg Hospital. In 1991 Miki and her husband Bob moved to New Bern, North Carolina which is where she considered her home. She enjoyed travelling, volunteering with Hospice and knitting caps for premature babies.
Miki is predeceased by her Husband, Robert G Buie, her Son William J Buie, and her sister Gretchen. She is survived by her Daughter Deborah (Craig) Rhinehart, of Seattle, Washington, Son Glenn (Alice) of Denville, New Jersey, Son Gary of San Jose, California, Son Gregg (Linda) of Aptos California, Son David, of Washington DC, and Daughter Jennifer (Chris) Miller, of Sinking Spring Pennsylvania. She is also survived by 11 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren, as well as her nieces Lisa McDugall, and Kristen Smails and her nephew Peter Smails
A memorial service will be held at Willow Valley, 300 Willow Valley Lakes Drive, Willow Street PA on December 29th 2018 at 12pm in the Lakes auditorium.
