Miriam “Mim” G. Stover, 84, of Lititz, PA passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Luther Acres.
She was the loving wife of John G. Stover, Sr. who passed away in December 2013. They were happily married for 61 years and lived at Luther Acres for nearly 20 years.
Born in Berwick, PA she was the daughter of the late Howard and Florence Kimmich Reidenbaugh. She is survived by a daughter, Robin Jacks; by a son, John Stover, Jr.; by granddaughters, Danielle Sternberg wife of Zach and Brittany Morales wife of Joseph and by 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers Richard and Gerald and by a granddaughter Kelly Stover.
Miriam was a 1949 graduate of J. P. McCaskey High School, Lancaster, PA and a 1952 graduate of Lankenau Hospital of Nursing, Philadelphia, PA. She also attended Messiah College, Mechanicsburg, PA with a certificate in parish nursing.
She was the forever nurse, caring for others. She spent her career at LGH, Alcoa Industries, as well as an ophthalmic nurse with Drs. John Bowman and Justin Cappielle. She also spent a few summers as camp nurse at Camp Shand. She was the first parish nurse in Lancaster County and was instrumental in establishing other parish nursing programs in the area.
She was very active in her church, first at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and then at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Lancaster, PA. She enjoyed time with her family friends and was a great cook. Mim was an avid swimmer and liked playing cards and board games. She was quite the craftsman and made many gifts of stitchery for family and friends.
Miriam had very definite opinions but rarely had to voice them; she was known for “giving the look”. Every night her routine was a snack with a milk shake concoction of frozen yogurt and milk.
A Memorial Service will held be at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 750 Greenfield Road, Lancaster, PA on Monday, April 11, at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Mark L. Russell officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Monday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be private for the family.
