Myrtle M. Stockbauer

Myrtle “Sandy” M. (Garman) Stockbauer, 97, of the Mennonite Home, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015. She was the wife of the late John “Pete” C. Stockbauer, Jr., who preceded her in death on December 27, 2004.

Born on January 24, 1918 in East Hempfield Township, Myrtle was the daughter of the late Reuben LeRoy and Mary (Malehorn) Garman.

After graduating from East Hempfield High School in 1936, she went on to work at the Olmstead Air Force Base, where she was employed as a secretary until her retirement.

She was a longtime member of Zion United Church of Christ in Marietta, PA.

Myrtle was an avid Phillies fan, always enjoying the outdoors, and loved spending time with her friends and relatives.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, and was preceded in death by her sister, Luella M. Gamber.

Myrtle will be missed by family and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service at the DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 2024 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603 on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Chaplain Miriam Cruz officiating. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will immediately follow the service in the Salunga Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Mennonite Home Benevolent Fund, 1520 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601 or to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
