Nancy Jane ‘Burger’ Minder 82, of Lancaster, PA passed away peacefully at Oak Leaf Manor North on Tuesday August 13, 2013.  Nancy was the wife of the late Samuel I. Minder Sr.  She was the daughter of the late Phillip and Florence Burger.  She is preceded in death by three brothers, Phillip Burger, John Burger, Carl Burger and by two sisters, Ann Kern and Patsey Workman.  She was the last of the Burger family.

Surviving are two sons, Samuel I. Jr. husband of Rosemary Minder and Steven D. husband of Tina Minder.  Also surviving are 5 grandchildren.  Michael J., husband of Megan Lau Minder, Matthew E.,  husband of Christina Carpenter Minder, Samuel I. Minder III, engaged to Elyse Buchanan, all of Lancaster, Douglas S. Minder of Galveston, Texas and Stacey Minder of Charlotte, NC.

Surviving are three great grandchildren, Delaney & Isaac, children of Michael & Megan and Chloe, daughter of Matthew and Christina.

Nancy was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s UCC in Lancaster and also a member of the Questers class.  She graduated from J.P. McCaskey in 1949.  Overcoming major health issues in her early 20’s she went on to help co-found, Samuel I. Minder Nurseries, Inc. in 1955.  She worked as secretary of Minder Nurseries for 34 years.  She was an immaculate homemaker and dedicated loving mother.  In her younger days, she enjoyed bowling and spending days with extended family at Maple Grove pool.

In the last 10 years she has been confined to a wheelchair.  The last 7 ½ years she was a resident of Oak Leaf Manor North, who lovingly and faithfully took care of her.  At Oak Leaf, she very much enjoyed bingo, playing cards, attending chapel on Sunday morning, and many trips.

Relatives and friends are respectively invited to attend a funeral service at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ 719 Marietta Ave. Lancaster, PA on Friday August 16, 2013 at 11:00 am.  Family will greet friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service.  Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be sent to St. Luke’s UCC Memorial Fund 719 Marietta Ave. Lancaster, PA 17603.
