Norma E. Faith, 86, of Leola, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Lancaster General Hospital. Mrs. Faith had suffered from Rheumatoid Arthritis since she was 12 years old.
She was married 63 years to Rev. Joseph R. Faith. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Leona Sayre Gaskell.
Mrs. Faith was a homemaker and earlier in life had worked at Rohm and Haas Labs in Philadelphia. She was a graduate of Camden High School and attended the University of PA.
Norma was a member of First Baptist Church in Lancaster and had been active as a Sunday School teacher and youth leader. She was a strong advocate for support of missions and was involved with the American Baptist Church of PA and DE. Norma had an interest in Biblical Archeology and had traveled to several Middle Eastern countries. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading historic novels, traveling across the United States, Canada, Europe and Africa, family vacations at the Jersey Shore and camping.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, J. Mark husband of Denise Faith of Clinton, MS, and Joseph S. husband of Jane Faith of Philadelphia; a daughter, Rev. Christy wife of Rev. David Meneely of Kittanning; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and a brother, Roy husband of Wini Gaskell of Morristown, NJ.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at First Baptist Church, 612 N. Duke St., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Richard S. Hill officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in the Lower Merion Baptist Church in Bryn Mawr, PA.
