Ora R. Barber, 94, of Willow Valley Lakes Manor, Willow Street, PA and formerly of Wilmington, DE, died Friday, March 21, 2014. Born in Blacksburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late C. Anderson and Margaret Price Rutledge.
After graduation from high school, she was employed in the Agricultural Department of Virginia Polytechnic Institute where she met her husband-to-be. She was married 69 years to Edwin J. Barber of Onarga, IL until his passing in March, 2010.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lancaster, where she took an active role in mission outreach.
Mrs. Barber enjoyed homemaking, doing community work, reading, traveling and keeping up with national and world affairs.
Surviving is a daughter, Mary Ellen Robinson of Boothwyn, PA; 2 grandchildren, John M. Robinson and Jennifer L. Robinson and 3 great-grandchildren, John, Jenna and Kayla. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty, and a brother, George E.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service from the Thomas Auditorium of Willow Valley Lakes Manor, 300 Willow Valley Lakes Dr., Willow Street, PA on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. with the Rev. J. William Lentz, Jr. officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the memorial service.
Private interment in Willow St. Mennonite Cemetery will take place at the convenience of the family.
