Patrick H. J. Hall

Patrick H. J. Hall, 91, of Manheim, PA passed peacefully in his sleep on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Lebanon V.A. Hospital.  He was the loving husband of the late Genevieve Segro Hall for 45 years before her passing in March, 2000.

Born in the Strasburg/Nickel Mines area, he was one of eight children of the late Harry H. and Mabel Bodge Hall.

A 1943 graduate of E. Lampeter Twp. High School, Patrick worked at Armstrong Cork Company prior to entering the U.S. Army in November, 1943 during World War II.  After basic training at Camp Croft, SC, he served in the European Theater 30 days after D-Day with the 9

th

Division, 60

th

Infantry.  In addition to the Purple Heart Medal, Patrick also received the EAME Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Victory Medal, WWII Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Bronze Star Medal.  Returning back to the states on December 27

th

, 1945 to recuperate in Rome, GA for a period of time, he was honorably discharged from Camp Upton, NY in May, 1946.

He was employed for 27 years as a monotype press operator at Lancaster Press and after retiring from there worked for 10 years for the U.S Postal Service.

Patrick was a life member of Masonic Lodges # 764 and #43 F & AM; Tall Cedars of Lebanon; 32

degree Reading Consistory; American Legion Post #34 for 25 years and B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #134 for 25 years.  He was also a long time and devoted member of Church of the Apostles, United Church of Christ in Lancaster.

Surviving are a daughter, Denise H., wife of Donald H. Clardy and their children Carly and Garrett of Manheim, PA with whom he lived for the past 9 years; a son, Galen P., husband of ColynMarie Hall of Norristown, PA; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Edna Schaeffer of Lancaster, along with a dear friend, Ree Owens from Rome, GA.

He was predeceased by his siblings: Harriet Bender, Bertha Hall, Annie Keane, Minney May, Robert Hall and Lewis Hall.

The family wishes to express a special note of gratitude to Patrick’s loved ones and friends in Rome, GA.  He never forgot them and their hospitality.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service in Church of the Apostles U.C.C., 1850 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603 on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.  with the Rev. Kathryn Kuhn officiating.  The family will greet friends at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Interment will follow at Strasburg Mennonite Church with military honors.
