Paul E. Grossglass, 85, of Lancaster, died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Hospice of Lancaster County in Mount Joy.
He was married 63 years to Janet A. Martin Grossglass. Born in Beaver Falls, PA he was the son of the late Otto C. and Verna Shanor Grossglass.
Paul retired from Watt & Shand after 34 years of employment. At the time of his retirement he had been the credit manager and prior to that had been the assistant manager of the Park City store for 10 years. He served in the US. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Breckinridge.
Paul was the treasurer for the AARP Chapter 2491 in Lancaster. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, woodworking, nature, bird watching, sports and raising racing pigeons. He was a member of the “Washers,” a group of six couples who retired from Watt & Shand, who met monthly for dinner and spent vacation time together in the Outer Banks.
Surviving besides his wife are three daughters, Linda E. wife of Jeffery Brubaker of Bainbridge, Diane L. wife of Ronald James of Derwood, MD, and Karen G. wife of Greg Bierly of Mountville; two sons, Carl E. Grossglass and Robert M. husband of Carol Grossglass both of Lancaster; 12 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Janet wife of Robert Herr of Lititz. He was preceded in death by sisters Lois Stetter and Dorothy Campbell.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 2:30 P.M. at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:30 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
