Paul Edward Furst Jr., 80, passed away on July 26, 2024, in Hershey, PA. Born on April 11, 1944, in Dallastown, PA. Paul was a man of remarkable spirit and intellect, known for his deep passion for aviation and motorcycles.
Paul attended Dallastown High School and furthered his education at a technical school, equipping him with the skills that led him to fulfilling careers at DuPont and Greydon, Inc. His commitment to excellence was also evident during his service in the Air Force, where he served his country valiantly during the Vietnam War.
Beyond his professional and military life, Paul was involved in many activities. His hobbies included building and flying aircraft, riding motorcycles, skydiving, and enjoying the outdoors. Paul was a member of the EAA Chapter 122 since 1996. These activities not only demonstrated his love for adventure but also his desire to embrace life fully, even following a challenging plane accident on July 19, 2024.
He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, where he shared his faith and community spirit.
Paul's legacy is cherished by his sibling, Suzanne Furst Thompson of Red Lion, PA, and his step-siblings, Jim, Wayne, and Arlene. He also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Edward Furst Sr. and Fern Ruth Snelbaker Furst Hamberger.
A graveside memorial service with military honors will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Rd, Annville, PA, on August 13 at 11 am. DeBord & Snyder of Lancaster, PA, is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for AIM Sky Young Eagles Scholarship for young aspiring pilots through the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 122, Harrisburg, PA, checks can be made payable to: AIM for the Sky Fund and sent to PO Box 512 New Cumberland, PA 17070 or Wounded Warrior.
Paul's journey was one of courage, generosity, and unwavering zest for life, touching the lives of many friends, fellow service members, and enthusiasts in the flying and riding communities. His spirit and legacy will soar in the memories of all who knew him. He now has wings!
