Paul H. Hershey

Paul Hershey 83, of New Holland, entered into rest August 6, 2013.

He was the husband of Reba Smoker Hershey with whom he shared his life for 62 years.  Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late John C and Grace Hershey.

Paul was a charter member of the Ridgeview Mennonite Church.  He was a self-employed limestone truck driver for 31 years and retired from Packaging Corporation, Lancaster in 1993.  After retirement he was a part-time driver for Executive Coach, Willow Street.  He also spent many winters in Sarasota, FL.  He loved golfing with his sons and friends and enjoyed watching golf and baseball and playing card games with friends.  He loved his family and cherished the times with them.

He was blessed with three sons.  James husband of Cynthia (Jones) Hershey, Audubon, PA, Charles husband of Donna (Fryer) Hershey, Ronks, PA, and Steven, husband of Abbey (Shannon) Hershey, East Earl, PA.  Six grandchildren and two step grandchildren – Tiffani, wife of Timothy Rollins and Shannon Spaulding of AZ, Christopher Jones, husband of Annie Mayer of CO, and Amanda, wife of Gary Tripp of NJ.  Kelly, wife of Eric Eckman and Kevin Hershey both from Lancaster.  Nicholas and Christopher Hershey, East Earl.  Seven great grandchildren including 4 step great grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers – Elvin husband of Patty Hershey, Lancaster and Harold husband of Jean Hershey, FL; and three sisters – Thelma wife of Elvin Kreider and Helen wife of Paul Kreider both from Palmyra and Martha wife of Jay Yoder of Lititz. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Hershey.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Ridgeview Mennonite Church, 3723 Ridge Road, Gordonville, PA.  Friend may call at Ridgeview Mennonite Church on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.  Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Paul’s memory may be made to Hospice and Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA  17604-4125.
