Paula Yvonne Wolf, 61, of Lancaster, passed away on March 12, 2024 at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health. Born in Lancaster, PA she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Paula (Snyder) Wolf.
A lifetime resident of Lancaster, Paula was a 1986 graduate of Franklin & Marshall College finishing magna cum laude with a B.A. in English and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
After college, she began her professional career a legislative aid for state Rep. Marvin Miller in his downtown Lancaster office.
She then worked from 1989-2020 for LNP/LancasterOnline, formerly Lancaster Newspapers, as a general assignment reporter and sports writer. She penned a regular sports column, Wheelchair Quarterback, for the Sunday News for many years which was written from the perspective of a fan.
More recently she was a freelance writer, primarily for Central Penn Business Journal and LebTown.com. Paula was a passionate follower of sports since childhood, especially of Philadelphia pro teams as well as Penn State Football.
A lifelong member of St. John Episcopal Church, Lancaster, where she was a lector and litanist.
Paula was a former board member of the Lancaster County Sports Hall of Fame. In her spare time, she was an avid reader of British crime mysteries, including authors Charles Todd, Ann Cleeves and Peter Robinson. She also enjoyed Louise Penny’s Inspector Gammache series and John Sandford’s Lucas Davenport books.
She also adored family vacations to Sea Isle City and Ocean City on the Jersey Shore.
In a wheelchair since the age of 17 because of rheumatoid arthritis, she was very fortunate to have a tremendous support system, starting with her wonderful parents who enabled her to live a reasonably independent life system.
