Pauline H. Beittel, 89 of Lancaster, PA, went home to Heaven on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy, PA.
Polly was born at Lancaster General Hospital on November 9, 1925; the eldest daughter of the late Paul V. and Helena Bremmer Hoeltzel. She was married 45 years to the late Richard A. Beittel, Certified Public Accountant.
She graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School, class of 1943 and trained as a Medical Technologist in 1945 at the Lancaster General Hospital. She was employed in the offices of the late Dr. John L. Atlee on Orange Street and the Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia while her husband completed his education in that city. They returned to Lancaster and lived in Manheim Twp.
Polly was a member of Lancaster Moravian Church where she served on the Board of Elders, communion steward, Love Feast sacristan, flower committee chairman, and Sunday school teacher. She was also a former member of Zion Lutheran Church on Vine Street in Lancaster where she was baptized, confirmed and married.
Pauline served on the Board of Directors of the Y.W.C.A. and served as chairman of the residence committee. She was a member of the Lancaster County Historical Society; past president of the Historical Guild; volunteered with Lancaster County Nature Conservancy; past president of the Towne Club; and Iris Club; was a girl scout leader, cub scout den mother, and served as usher at Fulton Theater.
Surviving are her children: Betsy A. Carlee of Quarryville, PA; Barbara A. Shire of Manheim, PA and Richard A., Jr. ,husband of Julie Beittel of Lancaster; her grandson, Andrew A., husband of Amanda Beittel of Ardmore; and her sister, Doris J. Kauffman, of Hudson, FL and her cousins.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
