Pauline (Pat) T. Witmer passed away peacefully Wednesday night, April 11, 2012 in Lancaster, PA. She was 97.
Born in Ebenezer, PA on September 17, 1914 to the late Ralph L. Thrush Sr. and Anna Morrison Thrush, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to many.
Pat was a 1932 graduate of Steelton High School and worked in Harrisburg at the Telegraph Newspaper before moving to Lancaster with her husband, Frank C. Witmer Jr., who died in 1976.
Always a stylish woman, she shared her love of fashion and jewelry with others while working as a personal shopper in the Advertising Department of Watt and Shand Department Store.
An avid traveler, she enjoyed seeing the world and experiencing new places. Throughout her life, she traveled extensively across the United States, Europe and Central America and cherished time spent with her family relaxing at the beach.
She is survived by her children, Barbara A. McCrary, wife of the late Nickolaus McCrary, Lititz, PA and Frank C. Witmer III, husband of Cindy Leeds Witmer, Ocala, FL, four grandchildren, Timothy Richard McCrary, Kansas City, MO, Julie Elizabeth McCrary, Lititz, Frank C. (Curt) Witmer IV, Ocala, FL, and Ashly Leeds Witmer, Jacksonville, FL, two great-grandchildren, Brady Nickolaus Spielman, Lititz, and James Kailen McCrary, Topeka, KS.
Also surviving are two siblings, Phyllis Hackman of Camp Hill and Ralph L. Thrush Jr., husband of Polly of Mechanicsburg, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Hazel Ulrich, Inez Davis, Ione Miller and Hope Lindenberger and one brother, Bernard Thrush.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to celebrate Pat’s life on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at 3 PM at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 25 N. West End Ave., Lancaster. The family will greet friends following the service. Interment in the Hummelstown, PA Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Pat’s memory to Bethany Presbyterian Church, 25 N. West End Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603, where Pat was a member for over 63 years.
Family and friends were always a priority, and she will be lovingly missed by many.
