Phares High Lefever passed in the same way in which he lived, with strength and love, on August 16, 2012. Today his family gives thanks for his memorable life and all those whom he enriched. He was the devoted husband of Joanne C. Miller Lefever with whom he shared 27 years of marriage. Mr. Lefever was predeceased by his first wife Mary Krivanek Lefever who passed away on Feburary 3, 1981. His wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him great joy.
Born in Rothsville, PA he was the son of the late Harry and Phoebe High Lefever.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Lefever) Gabrielsen and husband Cory; granddaughter Chanda Page (Lefever) Van Duser and husband Todd; step-children, Faith (Showaker) Devlin and husband Ernie; Steven Showaker and wife Frances; grandchildren, Christina Showaker and Sherry (Devlin) Helm. Also, surviving are 5 great-grandchildren.
He was a corporal in the U.S. Army and a veteran of WWII. His honors included WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation in Japan Medal. He was a member of Lancaster Sertoma, VFW Post # 7294 Millersville, American Legion Post #34 Lancaster, and served his community playing the mandolin at various retirement homes. He worked as a dial cutter for Hamilton Watch for many years.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral from Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Saturday, August 18th at 10:30 a.m. Family will meet friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Conestoga Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor guard.
