Phyllis Elaine Frimd Sanders

Phyllis Elaine Frimd Sanders, 80, died peacefully on July 4, 2015 at Spang Crest in Lebanon.

Born in Lancaster, Phyllis was a proud alumna of J.P. McCaskey High School class of 1953 and a long-time member of First Reformed Church in downtown Lancaster.  She enjoyed singing in the First Reformed choir, offered dedicated service to church committees, and wielded a generous ladle at a local soup kitchen.  In recent years, she took part in many activities within the Luthercare facilities of St. John Herr’s Estate and Spang Crest.  She began her career as an executive assistant to Clair McCollough, president of WGAL, in the late 1950’s and then retired from Phillips Financial Services in Mountville in 2012, after more than fifteen years as an administrative assistant.  She had a deep and abiding love for neapolitan ice cream.

She was a devoted mother to her surviving daughters, Amy E. Sanders, M.D. of Syracuse, NY and Beth Richards of Concord, NH; and loving grandmother to her grandsons, Nicholas and William, and was especially fond of her many grandcats.  Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Robert E. Sanders, by her brother William G. Frimd, Jr. and by her parents, G. William and Edith T. Frimd.

The family extends their gratitude to the Luthercare community and staff of St. John Herr’s Estate and Spang Crest for their loving care in Phyllis’ final years.

A public Memorial Service will be held at First Reformed Church, 40 E. Orange St., Lancaster, at 12:00 noon on Sunday, July 19, 2015.  The family will greet friends following the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Memorial Fund at First Reformed Church, 40 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA  17602 or to Luthercare’s Caring Fund, 600 E. Main St., Lititz, PA  17543.
