Phyllis L. Stoner

Phyllis L. Stoner, 75, of Mount Joy, entered into rest and peace on Monday, January 11, 2016, after a brief illness. Born in New Castle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Judd and Thelma Lamson and the widow of W. Scott Stoner.

Phyllis graduated from Mt. Jackson High School in 1957 then received a B.S. in Home Economics from Penn State University in 1962. She practiced dietetics in the 60’s and 70’s and was a member of the Am. Dietetic Assoc. for 35 years.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Landisville as well as a former member of Holy Trinity in Lancaster. In addition to being a former member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 501, she travelled and supported her husband, Scott’s, extensive Masonic activities.

An avid reader and traveler, Phyllis most enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She volunteered at the Mountville Library since 1980 and Milanof-Schock Library in Mt. Joy since 2006. She also enjoyed volunteer work at the Fulton Opera House and at the Inpatient Hospice Center in Mt. Joy.

Phyllis’ life is being celebrated by her daughters, Karen Weber (Harry), Camp Hill, and Cheryl Burns (Patrick), Mechanicsburg, as well as her grandchildren, Rosalie, Benjamin, and Andrew Weber, and Thomas Burns. In addition to much-loved nieces, nephews, and cousins, she will be especially missed by her in-laws, Jocelyn Kline (Mountville), Sharon Stoner (Sinking Spring), Blaine and Susan Rineer (Key West, FL), and Veronica Lamson (Cape Town, South Africa). She was preceded in death by her brother, Dean Lamson, brother-in-law, Jack Kline, and nephew, Dennis Kline.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, 85 Brandt Blvd., Landisville, PA. Friends may call at the DeBord Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service.  Interment in the Centerville Cemetery, Lancaster, PA.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Phyllis’ memory to Lancaster Library West – Mountville Branch or Milanof-Schock Library, Mount Joy, PA.

On her behalf, the family thanks Hospice and Community Care, Central Penn Nursing, and the doctors, nurses, and staff at Lancaster General Hospital and Transitional Care at the Masonic Villages in Elizabethtown.
