R. Jere Huber, 82, of Lancaster passed away peacefully Wednesday June13th, 2012 at Lancaster Regional Medical Center.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Roy S. and Edna Schaeffer Huber. A graduate of Penn Manor High School, he retired from AMP Inc., in 1995, after 24 years in the Purchasing Department located in Harrisburg. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
He was a charter member of Hempfield United Methodist Church where he served on various committees, directed the choir for 8 years, and was a member of the “Gospel Guys.” He was an avid gardener, and enjoyed woodworking, ceramics, and photography. He was also a former member of the Rotary Club of East Petersburg.
Surviving, in addition to his wife M. Louise Huber, are two daughters; Kim L., wife of Steve Sanner, of Evans, GA, Karen L., wife of John Devine, of East Petersburg, PA; 5 grandchildren; Shawn, Ashley, Cole, Elyssa, and Kayla; and 2 great-granddaughters. Also surviving is a brother, Harold S. Huber of Emmaus, PA. He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Jane Shultz.
A Memorial Service will be held at Hempfield United Methodist Church 3050 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601 on Tuesday, June 19th, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with the Pastor Edward Barlow officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will follow the service at the Silver Spring Cemetery.
