R. Kearney Sherr

R. Kearney Sherr, 77, of Lancaster, PA died Monday, March 10

th

at home surrounded by his family.  He was the husband of Carol Young Sherr and they would have celebrated their 58

th

wedding anniversary in 2014.

Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Margaret Danner Sherr.  He was a life member of the former St. Andrew U.C.C.

Kearney was the owner and operator of Sherr’s Service Station on Columbia Ave. for 41 years.  After his retirement, he worked as a bailiff at the Lancaster County Court House until his death.

He was a member of Lodge #43 F & A.M., Harrisburg Consistory, Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, Lancaster County Shrine Club, Tall Cedars of Lebanon #27 and Zembo Shrine.  He was a 1955 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School where he played football.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, LuAnn, wife of Allen Johns of Landisville and Kimberly Sherr of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Kelly, wife of Brad Schreiber of Lancaster, and Christopher Johns and Lindsay Johns of Landisville; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Caden Schreiber of Lancaster;  sister, Joanne Schweitzer of Yucca Valley, CA; brother, Dr. Richard, husband of Carole Sherr of Lancaster; and sisters, Margaret, wife of William Hart of Myerstown, and Judi, wife of Joe Peffley of Lancaster,  He was predeceased by a sister and brother, Nancy Sherr and Charles A. Sherr II.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service in the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Saturday, March 15

th

at 10:30 a.m.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, March 14

th

from 6-8 p.m.  Masonic Services will be conducted by Lodge # 43 F. & A.M. on Friday at 7:30 p.m.    Friends may also call on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.  Interment will be in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.
