Ralph L. Wright

Ralph L. Wright, Sr., passed into the arms of Jesus his Savior on January 31, 2025. He was born on February 12, 1929 in Williamsport, PA, to the late Charles Emory Wright and Emma Mae Freezer Wright. He celebrated 14 years of marriage with the love of his life, Cheryl Wright. His education included the Bible Institute of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia); Gordon College (Boston, Mass.) earning his BA; Wesley Theological Seminary (Washington, DC) earning his MDiv; Millersville University (Millersville, PA) earning his MEd; Temple University (Philadelphia) earning his DEd. 

Ralph was ordained to the Christian ministry by the Evangelical United Brethren Church in 1960. He served sixteen years in the ministry at churches in Ulster, PA; Berwick, PA; Dorsey, MD; and Loganville, PA. He was employed at Millersville University for 20 years in the Academic Affairs division. 

After his retirement in 1990, Ralph volunteered for 2 years at the Alaska Bible College in Glennallen and Anchorage, Alaska. Ralph attended Calvary Church, Lancaster, PA. Ralph’s family brought him great joy. He is survived by Charles Wright (husband of Barbara), Anise Russell (wife of Robert), Ralph L. Wright, Jr. (husband of Anh), and Rachel Zellers. He joyfully shared his life with his 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucile Mae Updegraff Wright, one sister, and five brothers. 

A funeral will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Church of God of Landisville, 171 Church St, Landisville, PA 17538. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM in Jefferson Cemetery.
