Rea Warden Outman, 96, of Westfield, PA, passed away on March 22, 2025 in the Glen at Willow Valley in Lancaster, PA with his devoted family by his side. He was the loving husband of Mary Ann (Morris) Outman, with whom he celebrated his 67th wedding anniversary on March 15th.
In addition to his wife, Rea is survived by his daughter, Jody Mansfield of Lancaster and his son, Bill Outman and his fiancée, Giselle Notarianni, of Bristow, VA. He is also survived by two of his greatest blessings in his life, his grandchildren Connor Rea Outman and Catherine Joan Outman. He was predeceased by his sisters, Donna Power and Beverly Packer, his son-in-law Clay Mansfield and his daughter-in-law Patty Silvia Outman.
Born on February 19, 1929, in Westfield, PA to the late Rea Phillips Outman and Florence Outman, he graduated from Westfield High School where he was a member of the basketball team, chemistry club and the school’s orchestra. The latter is where he developed his love for the violin, which he continued to play with his college orchestra as well as for family and friends until well into his 80’s. He also had a talent for working with wood and created multiple pieces of furniture over the years. After high school, Rea enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he spent the next four years specializing in radio repair. Upon honorable discharge from the Air Force, he attended the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy & Science where he earned his degree in Pharmacy. After graduation, he worked in the Pharmacy Department at Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg, PA. It was there he met the sassy nurse who would become his bride. Together, they returned to Westfield where Rea joined the family pharmacy business, ultimately taking over the business with Mary Ann where they served the community for over 40 years.
While in Westfield, Rea was also active in the St. John’s Episcopal Church Vestry and Choir and The American Legion. Rea and his wife retired to Madison, CT where they lived until moving to Lancaster in 2014. In retirement, Rea and his wife enjoyed gardening, swimming and traveling. Their favorite destination, where they made many happy memories with family, was Block Island, RI. At the end of the day, Rea occasionally looked forward to “Living the Dream” with a refreshing G&T.
The family would like to recognize and share special thanks with the caring staff and providers at Willow Valley as well as those at Caring Hospice.
Following Rea’s wishes, there will be no services.
